Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai Sundmacher re-appointed a Fellow of the Max Planck School Matter to Life
CDS spokesperson Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai Sundmacher, Director and Head of the Process Engineering Department at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg, was re-appointed as a Fellow of the Max Planck School Matter to Life by the President of the Max Planck Society.
Prof. Kai Sundmacher has been a fellow of the Max Planck School Matter to Life since 2019. Due to his outstanding scientific profile, he has now been reappointed for the period from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2029. The Max Planck School Matter to Life is dedicated to fundamental questions such as: "What is life?" and "Can life-like processes, functions and objects be quantitatively described, simulated, predicted and created in the laboratory?" Prof. Kai Sundmacher's focus here is especially on biosystems engineering and artificial life-like systems.
The tasks of the Max Planck School Fellows include supervising Master's and doctoral students at the various partner institutions, as well as supporting the training at the Max Planck School Matter to Life through exclusive courses, workshops and close support during the research project.
The Max Planck School Matter to Life focuses on interdisciplinary life science research and has formed an innovative network of German organizations for excellent graduate training, enabling it to offer students a first-class education.
