University of Magdeburg Becomes Hub for Research Data Management in Saxony-Anhalt
Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is further expanding its position as a central scientific hub: By the end of 2029, a state-wide coordination office for Research Data Management (RDM) will be established at the university. The Ministry of Science of Saxony-Anhalt is supporting the initiative with €500,000 in funding.
The aim of the new coordination office is to assess the needs for modern research data management across faculties and universities in the state, and to develop joint, sustainable solutions for handling research data. Through structured data management processes, complex research data will be secured, curated, and made accessible to researchers worldwide.
Led by the University Computer Center (URZ) in close cooperation with the faculties—including the Faculty of Computer Science represented by CDS - Member Prof. Andreas Nürnberger—the University of Magdeburg is setting key standards for digital research infrastructure and international scientific collaboration.
