Research on the causes of vascular damage associated with severe cases of COVID-19

CDS member Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Fred Schaper and Dr. rer. nat. Anna Dittrich are supervising a research project, which examines the causes and the molecular mechanisms of severe cases of COVID-19.

The aim of this project is to find out, if the damage of the vascular system is caused by the infection of the vascular cells with the SARS-CoV2 virus. This would be the basis to develop new possibilities of therapy.
