New CDS members
By unanimous decision of the Board of Directors Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Claus-Dieter Ohl and Prof. Dr. Marlin Ulmer were admitted as new members of the Research Center Dynamic Systems (CDS).
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Claus-Dieter Ohl is professor at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg since 2017 and leads the Department of Soft Matter at the Institute for Physics (IfP). The department works on open questions in liquids and soft solids. The research focus lies especially on phase boundaries, i.e. gas bubbles, decorated bubbles, vapor bubbles in hydrogels, dynamics of droplets, interaction of cells with flows and acoustic waves, as well as cavitation in general. The physicist is an adjunct professor at A*Star Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (A*STAR IMRE), Singapore.

Prof. Dr. Marlin Ulmer is the first CDS member of the Faculty for Economics and Management of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. He is head of the Chair Business Administration, esp. Management Science since August 2021. Previously, he was a junior professor for Prescriptive Analytics at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he acquired a DFG Emmy Noether junior research group in 2020. The focus of his research is on the formalization and support of business decision making with quantitative methods from operations research and business analytics.
Marlin Ulmer is spokesperson for the ESF-funded interdisciplinary graduate school NACHOS "Navigating the Chaos of Innovation and Transformation." The school aims to investigate, model, and optimize the prerequisites for the success, dissemination, and adaptation of smart innovations in the fields of renewable energy, the environment, and demographic change.
