For the third time, a publication by members of the Faculty of Economics at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg appears in the top journal "Management Science" (VHB rating "A+").
CDS member Prof. Dr. Marlin Ulmer and M.Sc. Florentin Hildebrandt from the Chair of Management Science, along with co-authors A. Strauss and Ž. Lesjak, published their work "Integrated Fleet and Demand Control for On-Demand Meal Delivery Platforms."
We analyze how the positioning of restaurants within delivery apps influences user choices, using extensive real-world transaction data. Based on these insights, we develop an integrated and dynamic approach to optimize both customer decision-making and fleet management. Methodologically, we apply techniques such as Transformer Reinforcement Learning—similar to those used in large language models (LLMs).”, explains Prof. Ulmer.
