CDS Progress Meeting "Bubbles for Energy, Material Processing and Chemistry"
On January 15, 2026, CDS member Prof. Dr. Claus-Dieter Ohl hosted the CDS Progress Meeting in Building 16 at the Chair of Physics (Soft Matter) within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The well-attended event offered a platform to exchange insights on research projects and results, providing a pleasant atmosphere for discussions over coffee and cookies. Afterwards, Prof. Ohl and his team offered laboratory tours, which were highly popular and conducted in two separate groups.
Dr. Max Hausmann is awarded the dissertation prize of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg
Dr. Max Hausmann from the Chair of Mechanical Process Engineering at the University of Magdeburg has been awarded a prize for his dissertation. His work was supervised by CDS member Prof. Dr. Berend van Wachem. In his dissertation, Dr. Hausmann focused on the computer-aided modeling of turbulent, particle-laden flows. This phenomenon is something we encounter constantly in everyday life – for example, when we exhale, when smoke rises from a chimney, or when we look at the weather forecast.
